Has anyone experienced Malware problems with pirated versions of Photoshop before?
I lost my Photoshop when I had to reformat my pc so I'm thinking of buying a pirated copy (I assume it is since it's cheap). However, I've read that malware that has been targeting Macs is being bundled with pirated versions of Photoshop CS4. I tried to search for similar cases involving Windows but I can't find any (probably because the Mac issue is more recent). Has anyone installed a bootleg copy of PS on their pc before and encountered some problems with Malware? I also read that the said Malware cannot be found on the program itself but on the crack program that comes along with it. Does that mean I won't have much problems if I won't be using any crack programs or programs/applications that produce serial keys?]
I know that I need not bother about this if I'll buy the original version but it's a bit expensive so I'm considering this option.
If you can't afford Photoshop (honestly, who can?) just buy Photoshop Elements. Much cheaper, and everything the average (and even above average) user needs is included.
I honestly can't believe you're really asking this question (and I can't believe I'm answering) but the Malware problems come from the kengens needed to crack the pirated versions. If you get pirated software, you still usually need to download a keygen for it. And keygens are notorious for malware. So, ultimately, pirated software is a bad idea. Just buy the stuff. Ebay has a lot of good deals on Photoshop 7, which is great. The only thing you'd be missing is the Shadow/Highlight feature and the Import 3D Object. At least, those are the only things I miss when I go from one to another. At work I have Photoshop 7 and CS3.
I've never heard of a computer being "bundled" with pirated software unless you're buying the computer in an alley somewhere. And if so, shouldn't you be asking the dudes with the trenchcoats this question?
