Photoshop Eps Transparent Background

How do I save a transparent eps file? Nothings working!?
I'm trying to send either a .ai file or a .eps file to get some wrist bands printed. So i need the background to be transparent. I can save it transparent with a .gif on Adobe Photoshop but it seems like that is the only one. The image is white and when I try to create a transparent background on illustrator it just doesn't turn transparent.
Any ideas? I'm desperate!!
I'm on a Apple Mac
.AI and .EPS are vector file types used in Adobe illustrator, so you'll want to use Illustrator for this, not Photoshop. It may be that it IS working but because your image is white on a white background, you can't see it. Illustrator doesn't 'show' a transparent background the way PS does. So it's going to look like you have a pure white (or blank) file, but if your vector graphics are in there, you should be OK.
Try this: When saving your file as an .EPS, under the EPS Options dialog box/Preview/ choose Tiff color and be sure to checkmark 'transparent'. Then try opening the EPS file Photoshop to check it; if you see a checkered background with your white over it, then it's set up correctly.
Incidentally, for many print companies, you can send one-color art as black, and then specify white as the color.
Hope this helps!
