Does anyone know how game companies make their cover art models?
Take my fave character jak for example. Here is a pic that I mean http://ui04.gamespot.com/931/art01jl1_2.jpg HOW are these made? Photoshop?Models?
the way ive always seen it done is just the art department at whatever company will take rough drafts to the character design team and they would flesh out the character, adding various changes and details that would make the character fit better in the world that the creators have designed for him.
this is mostly done in photoshop or any other design program, sometimes if it is a very high detail model they will use a clay model and digitally create it using a machine called a digitizer, turning it into polygons
then a few weeks or months go into refining the art and the colors of the character to make it perfect for the game
