Apps To Help Designers And Artists Be More Creative
The iPhone is an incredible invention; the smartphone not only allows you to make calls, send texts, play games, listen to music, take pictures and surf the internet, but the App Store offers a wealth of applications for pretty much every possible need.
Apps that encourage or help with creativity are becoming particularly popular on the two systems, especially with artists, web designers, logo designers , writers and poets.
So, to help you through the maze of apps, here are a few of the best creativity related applications for the App Store:
Idea Sketch:
Idea Sketch is a free application that allows you to create brainstorms and mind-maps incredibly easily. You won't find anything other than the mind-map / brainstorm feature, but you can't really complain seeing as the application's free. Actually quite useful this one, it can help with forming ideas and being able to keep previous brainstorming sessions saved is an excellent resource for future ideas.
Moodboard:
This one's for the iPad, and allows you to make a moodboard featuring anything you want; videos, copy, colour charts, images, and countless others. Extremely good for designers and artists, this is very useful for putting together individual boards for each logo design or project you take on board.
Sketchbook Pro
This is another iPad application, it costs a few quid but it's absolutely worth it. The application lets you paint, draw and doodle directly onto the pad using your fingers or the stylus. You can quickly and easily select your colour, type of brush, fill, etc. and it even features layers for more complicated illustrations, drawings for a logo, etc.
Things
'Things' is a project management application that also allows for detailed time keeping. Although you'd be right in saying it's not strictly an application to increase creativity, it's extremely useful for freelancers as it allows you to properly keep track of the time you're spending on each project. Things is an extremely useful tool for managing your big projects and even improves your billing processes, especially if you're paid by the hour. Again this one costs a little more, but would be genuinely useful to any creative freelancer.
