Photoshop CS5: Making a gif out of a video?

Okay so I thought I learned how to change a video into a gif on photoshop, but when I tried uploading it on tumblr it showed up as a still image. It's under 10mb which is the maximum sixe. So I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. Can someone help me?

You should check your video file format. Photoshop only supports MPEG‑1, MPEG‑4, MOV and AVI. If you do not have QuickTime installed, you have to install it to make video files work in Photoshop.
